| My first time on your board, trust I am in the correct space. Been doing manual (read "eye") font matching for years now, so this is the greatest software I stumble upon, I download trial version 3.0.00 - it works brilliantly! Decided it is a must for my business but before purchasing, I install a later version and immediately had the "already running" problem. Uninstalled, reinstalled my free trial all and was well again. Found this thread saying problem has been solved, so I purchased the full version, followed instructions, downloaded latest version (v3.3.05) and now having the same issue again. (Same problem on my home and work computers) Please help, I have already become addicted to this software which is now paid for but not functioning. Many thanks Charlie |

| Hi Charlie, and thank you for your purchase and your kind words The application will try to resolve this problem on first run, but there are some rare cases where this can't be done. There is though a manual override, which should always work: 1. Method A: Edit options file (Fix issue, Keep Application Preferences intact) a) Ensure that Find my Font is NOT running (I know this is highly improbable due to the nature of the issue, but it's a requirement anyway) b) Locate the following file: On MS-Windows: c:\Users\[your-user-name>]\AppData\Roaming\FindMyFont\fmfdata\FindMyFont.opt by replacing "[your-user-name]" (including the square brackets) with your Windows login username. On Mac OS: users/[your-user-name>]/.config/Find my Font/fmfdata/FindMyFont.opt by replacing "[your-user-name]" with your Mac OS login username. c) Open the above options file with a text-editor and search for a parameter named "socketPort". A typical entry looks like the following: socketPort="1965" Please change this port number, you can try e.g. "39756" or "40523": socketPort="39756" Save (overwrite) the options file. d) Run Find my Font again, to check if problem is solved. 2. Method B: Recreate the options file (Auto-FIX, Preferences are reset to default) a) Ensure that Find my Font is NOT running b) Locate and DELETE the options file (the same file referenced above on (1).b ) c) Run Find my Font, to allow the application to choose an alternative port itself. WARNING: ALL Application Preferences will be reset to default values. If Method B fails, try Method A which should always work if you choose an appropriate port value not being used by any other application. Please let me know if this solves your problem.
