Welcome, Guest |
| It seems that every day 100s of new fonts are released. How do you keep up with this pace? Since some of the fonts are released in quite expensive sets, do you get some assistance from the type foundries, as a way of helping them promote their products? It occurs to me that a font recognition program is only as good as the coverage that its database can provide? |

| Yes, that's the idea. We are in contact with many foundries and they send us their fonts as a way of helping them to promote their products. There is also a great deal of free font releases, e.g. on Dafont.com site or the Google Web fonts collection. We try to update these collections too as frequently as possible, e.g. every 1 or 2 months. In fact, a major database update is in progress right now and it will be completed in about 15-20 days with many new foundries and fonts. We have also put a lot of effort in this update, to eliminate duplicate fonts (mostly coming from free sources) e.g. different releases of the same font, OTF/TTF duplicates etc. Are you using Find my Font? Have you noticed any foundries/fonts that you were unable to find? Any recommendations to contact new foundries are welcome (although it will probably be covered on our new major database update) Fivos Vilanakis - Softonium Developments CTO |

| Thanks for the reply. I haven't noticed any obvious omissions yet, having just bought a copy, but wondered how you could keep up with the relentless pace of font releases. I'm quite impressed so far - it can certainly handle 1000s of fonts pretty quickly! |
