| I am away from the computer for about a week. I'll look at the preferences when I'm back. Thank you again. We'll continuing chatting next week. When I turned off the computer FMF still could not open files. It could do a online and system search. I have a note into Apple. I have found a program that I did not download and they did not install. The proxies were changed. It's why FMF could not do the online search. Now to find out why in a dialogue box with headings I can no longer click date to see the most recent on top. FMF had that and now my desktop folder does too. |

| Hi Harris. I just wanted you to know that for some unknown reason - LogMeIn was installed on my Mac - without my knowledge. The company thinks it may have come bundled with software - the only software I bought recently was yours... I did not want to use the recommended method from Apple - it was just too scary for me, and since 98% of the computer was fine, I couldn't see taking a risk for 2% that I could learn to live with how it functioned. The good news was I "uninstalled" LogMeIn - after talking to the folks there - restarted my computer - and all is well. Yes, I can even have Find My Font open a file again, and I can sort the columns by which ever heading I like. I'm happy for the small things in life. Thank you for your helping me. If it comes up again - you'll know what to tell the next person. ***** BTW - I asked LogMeIn what their program was. It is a remote that can see into a computer for someone helpful to figure out what is going on. We looked to see who had the access, and I'm happy to report - NOBODY... whew. |

| I'm glad it all worked out OK. BTW, I use LogMeIn extensively to provide support to some clients and friends. It's an excellent product and very useful. I don't know of any products that have it bundled. Most probably it was installed by a person. Since you uninstaled it you have nothing to worry about. | Wish that was true - but I am the only one on this computer... it's my business machine - and not a soul is here to turn it on... but me. Not even the cat has the password. BTW - LogMeIn suggested that as the way I got it... |
