koeiekat wrote: FindMyFonts 3 ran perfectly on my (now dead ) Vista laptop. Installed it on my old XP desktop and restored all fontsets.

When I run FindMyFonts the program closes with this error:

FindMyFont Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
AppName: findmyfont.exe AppVer: 3.0.0.0 ModName: qtgui4.dll
ModVer: 4.7.3.0 Offset: 0017d09b

What is causing this error?

Hi koeikat,

to help us further investigating this issue please check the following:

1) Ensure that you Windows XP is updated at least to Service Pack 3

2) I need to know what do you mean by "restored all fontsets".
I can image 2 methods to restore the fontsets:
(a) Copy all fonts to the XP computer and recreate/re-index all fontsets
(b) Copy all fonts + the existing fontsets files and indexes

If you followed method (b) I suggest to:
Step 1: Remove all fontsets and index files by hand
Step 2: Recreate the fontsets using method (a)

3) If both (1) & (2) fail to resolve your problem,
please make the following test and report the result back to us:
a) Uncheck "Local Search" (keep checked only "Online Search"
b) Perform a match and tell us if the application still crashes

We are sorry for the inconvenience,
and I hope your issue will be resolved really soon.

I have tried the trial version on two other PCs with Windows XP and get the same error. Looks like FMF doesn't run under XP.

We have many customers who use Find my Font on Windows XP. I even have an installation too (see below).

Can you please let me know the details of the system(s) that crashes (memory, CPU etc) or even better email me the crash report?
I am assuming you have used several images and get the same results. Please confirm.

Yes, I have used several images. And the result is always the same error.
I'll send you the error report and some screendumps by email.

Hello,
Haven't heard back from you. Is the program working now?
If not, can you send me the error report?
There is also a log file in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\FindMyFont\fmfdata\logs
Can you please send me that file too?
